Cultural activity in Buenos Aires by CUI: we visit the Fragata Presidente Sarmiento.
On Thursday, February 22, students of the Spanish Program for Chinese students visited the ship – school Frigate “Presidente Sarmiento”. They went together with their teachers. This historical monument is located on the Costanera Sur, in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires city.
They enjoyed the beautiful summer weather in the city, which allowed them to visit all the facilities of the frigate built between 1893 and 1895. With the help of the guide the students found out that the ship served as a school-ship between 1899 and 1939. Besides, the learnt the ship was always Ambassador of Peace on behalf of Argentina, even in times of international wars.
We thank the teachers Lucy Artola, Sofia Tiano and Andrea Giliberti as well as the bilingual tutor Emma Beh for accompanying our students. This interesting activity allowed to increase their cultural and Spanish knowledge.
